23.5°- Florian interviewed by Sam Champion
On my birthday - December 21st 2016 I received the wonderful news that President Obama protected almost the entire part of the US Arctic Ocean from oil and gas development. For years I have been photographing and filming these areas and gave countless presentations about the Alaskan Arctic. In partnerships with organizations like EarthJustice, WWF, Alaska Wilderness League, Braided River and Patagonia we have made people aware about the issues surrounding the Beaufort and Chu

Patagonia - Interview with Florian Schulz
FROM PATAGONIA: This fall, we dedicated our late-November catalogue to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. For the photo direction, we wanted to highlight life in the Refuge from the perspectives of both the Gwich’in people, for whom the Arctic’s coastal plain is sacred land, and the wildlife. Selecting a photographer to work with on the wildlife side of things was a quick decision, as I knew that Florian Schulz, the German conservation photographer, had been spending much o

Nikon D600 ISO Performance
So the Nikon D600 is in stores and one or the other photographer has already picked up their won body. But I have been getting many requests from people out there to talk a bit more about my experience with the camera. So let me give you a bit of an insight to what I have found: What I very much like about the way Nikon has handled noise. Noise in the files looks more like film grain that those of us know from the old days of shooting film. The way noise shows up in images re

In my search of special light I stayed up with my guide throughout many nights out on the ice. A high pressure system provided us with good weather and magical sunlight during t
